Steamed Taro in Rice


Steamed taro in rice or "Khao Op Pheuak" in Thai. This is another simple recipe and good for people who don't like spicy food. My husband said this food is very mild. It's good for side dish. If you don't like spicy food why don't you try this one. You may like it.

Ingredients:
1) 2 cup uncooked rice
2) 15 shrimps
3) 3 Taro
4) 3 garlic cloves
5) 1 package dried mushroom.
6) 1 cup raisin (optional)
7) 2 cup chop Chinese celery
8) 3 Tbsp oyster sauce
9) 2 Tbsp lite soy sauce
10) 1/2 Tbsp sugar
11) 2 Tbsp canola oil
12) 2 1/4 cup water to cook rice

Preparation:
1) Clean and peel shell of shrimps.

2) Wash rice very well and drain the rice.

3) Soak the raisin with water until soft and drain the raisin.
4) Soak the dried mushroom with water until get soft

And drain the dried mushroom and press out all water then set aside.


5) Peel the garlic and mash with garlic press

6) Peel the skin of taros

Then cut cut into small dices

7) Chop the Chinese celery.

8) Heat oil in a pan on medium heat.

9) When oil is hot, garlic into the pan until fragrant.

10) Add shrimps and lite soy sauce, sugar, oyster sauce.

11) Add dried mushroom into the pan and stir well.

12) Add sliced taro into the pan and mix very well.

13) Add raisin into the pan.

14) Add uncooked rice to mix with all ingredients.

15) Mix all ingredients together

16) Move rice on the pan to cook the rice with the electric rice cooker.

17) Add 2 1/4 cup of water to cook rice .



18) When the rice is cooked add chopped Chinese celery into the electric rice cooker.

19) And mix the chopped Chinese celery together with rice and cover for 2 minutes and then enjoy your steamed taro in rice!

Steamed shredded bamboo shoots with shrimp


Steamed bamboo shoots with shrimps or "Mok Nor Mai Sai Gung" This is another food that I made for our dinner tonight. This is food of Northeast Thailand. I steamed shredded bamboo shoots with red curry paste. I can smell all ingredients which is including the aroma of banana leaf. My mother always making Mok Nor Mai for me. Here I try to make it from my kitchen. It isn't quite good like I used to have from my mother made for me. Just wanted to try something new. The result came out is pretty good. I made with shrimp this time and I hope you try to make it someday and you will like it.

Ingredients:
1) 15 shrimps
2) 2 fresh chillies
3) 1/2 red bell pepper
4) 3 kaffir lime leaves
5) 3/4 Tbsp sugar
6) 1 cup coconut milk
7) 4 shallots
8) 3 Tbsp fish sauce
9) 4 Tbsp mashed rice
10) 2 Tbsp red curry paste.
11) 1 can shredded bamboo shoot
12) banana leaf for wrapping
13) 4 Tbsp sticky rice

Preparation:
1) Soak sticky rice with water for 15 minutes

2) Clean and peel shells of shrimps

3) Slice fresh chillies, thinly slice kaffir lime leaves and cut red bell pepper into small pieces.

4) Slice shallots into thinly small.

5) After soak the sticky rice then mash it with mortar and pestle.

Then set aside.

6) Wash shredded bamboo shoots very well then bring to boil on high heat for 15 minutes.

Drained and set aside.

7)In mixing bowl, put coconut milk, fish sauce, red curry paste, sugar and mashed
sticky rice and mix together.
8) Add cooked shredded bamboo shoots

9) Add sliced kaffir lime leaves, fresh chillies, sliced shallots and sliced red bell pepper.

10) Add Thai basil and mix it until all ingredients get together.
11) Add shrimps

12) Mix very well.


13) Cut the banana leaves into rectangle shape and make 2 layer in case banana leaves are broken.
14) Place some mixture on top of banana leaves. Make sure don't put too much until you can't wrap it.

15) Lift the bottom up to the center, then left the top to the center, after that close the right side to the center and the last close the left side to the center and use stapler.


16) After finish with wrapping then bring to steam for 20-30 minutes.

17) If the food is cook and the banana leaves is changed the colour.

18) Open it up and you will smell the yummy steamed shredded bamboo shoots with shrimp and enjoy it!

Stir-fried Shrimp with curry powder


Stir-fried shrimp with curry powder or "Gung Phad Phong Karee" Today, I wanted to eat this dish and I am happy to share with you about Thai dish with aroma of powder curry. This recipe is very unique in Thai cuisine. It has oyster sauce, roasted
chillies paste, egg, milk, fresh chilies, Chinese celery, onion and spring onions. You will get a little of sweet taste and aroma of the powder curry. This is one of my favorite dish in seafood restaurant. I like to order with crab. It can be very expensive depending on the size and weight of the crab. It is absolutely delicious. If you would like to try this dish. Here I share some recipe for you. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

1) 26 Shrimps
2) 1 egg
3) 1/3 cup milk( I used soy milk)
4) 2 Tbsp fish sauce or lite soy sauce
5) 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
6) 2 Tbsp Chilli Paste in soy bean oil ( Numprik pao)
7) 2 tsp curry powder
8) 1 onion
9) 4 spring onions
10) 2 cups Chinese celery
11) 4 fresh chillies
12) 2 Tbsp canola oil

Preparation:
1)Clean shrimps and peel shells.

2) Wash and cut Chinese celery into 1 " length.

3)Chop garlic and slice chillies.

4) Cut green onion into 1 " length.

5) Slice onion.

6) In the mixing bowl, add oyster sauce, fish sauce, curry powder, milk, Chilli Paste in soy bean oil ( Numprik pao) and beat egg in the mixing bowl.

Then set a side.

7) Heat canola oil in the pan on medium heat. When oil is hot add chopped garlic and sliced onion

8) And stir-freid until fragrant.

9) Pour the mixture into the pan and stir-fry until the mixture mix together.

10) Add shrimps into the pan.

11) Stir well until shrimp is cooked.

12) Add cut Chinese celery.

13) Add cut green onion

14) Add sliced fresh chillies and stir until all ingredients get together and Enjoy
